Digestion and temperature
Hi there just after some advice. My tort appears to have been straining over last few weeks which I initially thought was flashing as his 'boy bit' kept showing . Erring on side of caution he went to vets (one on your list of specialist vets) who did xrays and no stones and lungs clear, so recommend...

Re: New outddor enclosure photos
Thanks Lin and Nina for your comments Don't know why my photos went like that! On the last one, although it's not terribly easy to see.... you can just make out the mesh lid which is hinged on the left side of the table and than we have clasps on the right hand side and have padlocks to lock it clos...

Shame the weather has turned so he s not able to spend long outdoors but at least he can go out when the sunshine allows. I 've yet to get ...

Re: Travelling with a tortoise
Hi Nina and Lin, thanks to both of you for your helpful replies. Yes he is a horsefield so i will definitely heed your advice Nina, that scenario you described made me chuckle, although I m guessing it was no laughing matter at the time! I 've noted about not using the water bottle and keeping him d...

Travelling with a tortoise
Hi there, Would welcome advice on the topic of travelling by car with a tortoise please. We 're taking a week's holiday in the UK and the holiday cottage we 've booked is happy for us to bring tortoise along in his temporary enclosure (a guinea pig cage). We 've chosen to take him along as he s quit...

Re: Suitable wood for building outdoor enclosure
Thanks Lin, It's all very helpful and I'm hoping today's weather was a mere blip in our beautiful summer. T'was heartening to see His Nibs stretched out in his indoor table, under his sunlamp this morning as I set forth to the wet and windy hills to forage for his weeds! They get a grip of you, thes...

Re: Suitable wood for building outdoor enclosure
Thanks Elaine, I 've registered on Tortoise Trust website just waiting to be accepted then I 'll have a good read. Lumisol Clear sounds interesting thanks. Breeze block base sounds ideal, unfortunately our outdoor enclosure will just have to be wood as it 'll be a semi permanent arrangement until we...

Suitable wood for building outdoor enclosure
Hi, just need a little advice please, we 're planning a secure outdoor enclosure so we can leave Tortollini outside unsupervised. We'll have to build on patio so planning to raise slightly off floor to allow drainage but what i'm not sure about is if we're ok using decking boards from wickes - which...
