Resources

The Resources Section of this website is designed to provide you with supplementary material, which we hope will help to broaden your knowledge of scientific research concerning tortoises and plants (see the Links section), as well provide lighter entertainment -- for example the origins of some familiar plant names and a short survey of the tortoise in literature and art.

Our section covering the law on picking wild flowers should be read by everyone before they collect plants from the wild for their tortoise.  The article on how we do our research explains the types of sources we consult in order to arrive at our assessment of plants for inclusion in the Plant Database, as well as our criteria for traffic light classification and why we don't include some types of information (e.g. the nutritional content of plants) in our entries.

We hope you find the Resources Section useful, and we welcome suggestions of subjects for additional articles or research, as well as appropriate links to add to the Links section.
