Re: Foraging walk id please
Hi Vicky. Its a pleasure answering your questions when they are laid out like this. Thank you. A = Cut leaf Geranium - Good feed B & C = Both are what we call Umbel plants - no feeds because its very difficult for the laymen to identify without mistake so we do not advising feeding any of the pl...

Re: Seed mix
Hiya. Its good you have found somewhere to obtain the seeds but if you do find any you do not know their name then do send us in ohotos and we will do our best to identify them. If a good quality photo is taken while still growing and a close up of the flower we can usually find out what it is. Keep...

Re: Questions
Hiya. With these little tortoises we have to ask ourselves how much is not much. Would you say he nibbles then over the course of a day would you say he actually does eat...perhaps a piece of leaf that will cover your thumb nail? You have had him two weeks now so did you weigh him when you first got...

Oh wow. I love the name Wilbur, its great for a tortoise. I hope you dont mind me suggesting this but if you really want to do Wilbur (and yourself because its far cheeper) a favour, then ditch the things you buy, especially now its spring and weeds are growing in abundence.. Re: Temperature question
Hi SilverWings I would say if she is happy then who are we to say... :D 32°C is fine because you have the probe at the right height, and the shell temps are fine. On the ground, if we walk barefooted from a shaded area to a sunny spot we can immediatley feel the burning on the underside but not on t...

Hi Anne. If you can send a photo or two of Isobel to our contact address (contact@thetortoisetable.org.uk) so that I can start the rehoming process. Will you be happy to oversee the applicants if I get them to send their applications direct to you , we will, of course be here to aid you in any way t...

Hi Pete. Having had the biggies and see what they eat in the wild I have a different opinion to Nina  In my opinion it will be entirley up to you Pete. If its a spineless opuntia I wouldnt bother removing the gloch's but if its spined then I might of the pad, perhaps run them through a flame wh...

Re: Isobel- 19 years old female Horsfield tortoise
Hi Anne. I can offer to put Isobel onto our FB page for you with the info you give. It will be up to you to interview any prospective new carers, to ask questions and ask for photos of what people are able to offer and choose who feel fits the bill. If you can send in a photo if her and any details ...

Re: Adopted Tortoise - General Advice
Hi E. Its so good that he is eating now, I am sure he will recover and start eating a better diet soon. Is he being fussy with his weeds and flowers?. I must stipulate E, that things like Primrose and fruits are not good and will only upset his stomach and the only way to get him eating the good wee...

Wow. A place for everything and everything in its place. All in a spacious area that fits so snug. You should find a gap for the puppy, he will love the warmth too - . He had probably got the bed though - lol

I nipped out to the shops, sorry. I still go with my first thought of female though.
Really happy the colour was the reflection, had me a bit panicked there for a while.

Re: Male or female?
Although still young I would guess a female. Could this tortoise have laid eggs recently?
I can see a slight redish colouration towards the right hand side of the tail. Is that because she is warm or maybe just as the photo was taken it has caused a reflection from something?

Re: Adopted Tortoise - General Advice
Ah, thats good then. I would have suggested no lower than 20°C but follow your vets instructions.
Oh wow. Eating on his own is awsome for him . I can see this little one making a complete turn-a-round sooner rather than later . x

Re: Adopted Tortoise - General Advice
Thank you so much for updating us E. Did the vet say anything about getting calcium into him. It might be a good idea to sprinkle some on his dandelion daily but not to much because we wouldnt want him turning his nose up at that. It so good to hear he is on the way up with his eating and that is on...
