Drowned - don't try this at home!
Earlier this week I read a fascinating article in my BCG (British Chelonia Group) newsletter (no 260, Mar/Apr '21) - Veterinary Corner. A 60y/o Hermann's, missing for two days, was found at the bottom of the garden pond. The short version is that 5 days later it was discharged, alive & well, by ...

I realise this is a bit late as a 'reply', but I think the 4th (last) photo looks like periwinkle!

Re: Sharing space
That's lovely Lin!
I will now try to post another photo that amuses me! Toto was cleaning up Cleo's bowl, & someone joined in!....so I dropped the cucumber onto the tray to create a phot-op! Quite why the photo has loaded sideways I have no idea - it is upright in my docs!

Sharing space
Hi all, My Achillea has free range of my cottage, & knows where to find her UV lamp. Before bed time, we always check where she has chosen to sleep - she has several preferred places, but I need to be sure she's not in a draft, or other place where she might get overly chilled. Her indoor life d...

Balmy Tortoise!
This weather is too hot for me, let alone Achillea.....she's been chasing my feet (black rubber slip-ons) endlessly for several days. When is it too hot for balmy tortoise's sanity?

Re: Turtles & me!!
Thanks Nina - I did nettles as a veg last week - really tasty - just young leaves (remove stem), rinsed, & microwaved with a dollop of butter. I've tried nibbling at ground elder - pleasant sharp taste, but unlike Achillea, I just don't 'get' dandelions!

Turtles & me!!
Hi - I do hope that my Tortoise Table friends are safe & well at this very strange & somewhat frightening time.....Unlike many, I'm so far enjoying my furloughed escape from work, spending loads of time with many friends & plants - added to by the gang from work (I'm a school Biology Tec...

Still nothing laid - just loads of wandering about, hiding in odd places, & very little eating. Bathing her every two days or thereabouts, & she's eating her small slice of cucumber c/w Nutrobal daily.

Hind legs Nina - in that way they do if they are very large, leathery, & on a vast sandy beach with an Attenborough nearby!

Wanting to lay eggs...
Hi folks - Achillea lives a bit of a topsy-turvey life, & I'm pretty sure our winter is her summer! In the last few days she's been behaving oddly, including doing a bit of faux excavating on a paved area, so I tried the washing up bowl of warm, friable, damp soil, which I thought enticing, to n...

Agree - excellent - I hadn't previously found this very informative info! (Slap wrists), but use Nutrobal daily on a small slice of cucumber.

Weight Worry Sorted!
Hi - I was really worried earlier this week, when I weighed Achiilea (I do this randomly - sorry!) & it showed a distinct weight loss, although she felt 'normal' when I picked her up. I was about to contact you here for advice. Then it occurred to me to double check the balance! It is an Ohaus. ...

Re: Scabious
Hi Nina - the search works fine for me now....I wonder if I simply typed in the search box before the page was fully loaded (my internet is very slow), but I also scrolled down the garden plants section & found it lacking....odd.... My Amelanchier was indeed good value - £4 in the knocked down s...

Scabious
Hi all - confused I am....I thought Scabious was the same as 'candy tuft' but it appears that I am mistaken......I couldn't find an entry for Scabious by 'searching' (I've had a similar problem before) but eventually found it under 'S' in the A-Z section.....think I'm going mad (or stupid!).... Also...

Obsessed with my shoe....
Hi - I think this may make you smile.... A while ago I was worried about Achillea's behaviour towards my mauve, soft, plastic slip-ons (like Crocs) you may remember, & you reassured me that this sort of mounting behaviour was OK, even for a girlie tort! So, when I discarded them I kept one for h...

Hi,
Is this, my latest treasure, safe for the tortoise garden? This is a baby one, so a couple of fronds at beak height. I can't imagine Achillea nibbling it, but best safe than sorry.....
I can stand it on a stone or upturned pot if necessary

Re: Achillea's new, improved space
Thanks both - work in progress regards 'interest'. I like the log roll idea. The concrete pad against the cream wall (almost not showing) has potential for a 'sun house' next to the pansies (which is where Achillea sun-bathed last weekend) & maybe troughs of attractive edibles - my garden has ma...
