Re: In or out?
Your table is full of interest & inspiring ideas. I was wondering if there is a page with table pics here? Its really interesting to see all the different set ups and ideas that Ive seen so far on various posts. Marigold hasnt shown any interest in the succulent, I thought she would. So I bought...

Re: In or out?
Thank you Nina, I was unsure about hibernation this year. I have only had her since May and I'm trying to find contact details for the previous owner to see if she hibernated with them. With fences & other houses my garden gets limited sun which is why I was concerned about temperature. Also wit...

In or out?
As its getting colder outside I'm worrying more about putting Marigold in her outside enclosure. But it must be pretty dull staying in the tortoise table all the time even if its lovely and warm. There is only so much I can do to make her table interesting, I have areas outside in her enclosure wher...

Proprietary tortoise food
In my panic to make sure Marigold had everything she needed when she arrived I also bought some Komodo dandelion tortoise food. My suspicion is its like junk food for tortoises but I figured it would make sure she got anything that was lacking in the diet I provided and also something to fall back o...

Re: Outside enclosure
I think I'd have a heart attack if I saw Marigold climbing like that! Thankfully so far she doesnt seem to want to climb anything, I have a log roll in her table and she hasnt shown signs of climbing it, she prefers to bulldoze her way through things! There's a fair bit of soil behind the pebbles an...

Re: Tortoise newby
When I first measured her it was the length of her shell underneath, with the SCL method I did manage to push her against the wall and draw the line behind her but her head wasnt fully in and not for long! But she was fully up against the wall briefly enough for me to do it I think. When measuring h...

Outside enclosure
Here are some pics of the outside space I have put together for Marigold.
Its under a large conifer tree which shelters her, I put 2 grades of pebbles in which she loves to burrow into and there is garden soil behind.
The net is from a badminton net I secured over a frame to keep the cat off!

Re: Tortoise newby
Hi Nina, the seeds would be very welcome thank you! I will email my address.
I tried the paper/wall technique, she didnt want to stick her head in
I managed to get a reading of 10cm still so I'll go with that!

Re: Tortoise newby
The yellow flower is a Hawksbeard, I have yet to find her any evening primrose to try, but might have to get some seeds for next year. She deffinately likes the round plantain which is lucky as its prolific here, but isnt keen on the thin leaved plantain! I have read here that tough mature leaves ar...

Re: Tortoise newby
Hi Nina, no worries about the original post! Makes me feel better about not being able to figure out how to reply to your private message  Marigold still has the cuttlefish in her home, she just ignores it now. I made her an outdoor enclosure so she goes outside when its nice, I have a window t...

Oh dear! Jennie, I am so sorry! When I wrote my reply below to your lovely email, I somehow accidentally deleted your message! I don't know how i did that, and I've been into the moderator logs to try and recover it, and I can't. Please forgive me -- that has never happened before and I'm so sorry. ...
