Tacoma Plant

Use this forum for identification of plants and flowers found in countries outside the UK. To allow us to help provide accurate identification we need clear pictures of the whole plant, where it is growing and close up pictures of flowers, buds or seed heads if any available. It would also be useful to see pictures showing the leaf attached to the stem.

Hi May and thanks for contacting us about the Tecoma capensis.
It is a plant we have been asked about before so we really should get the entry on the website. We do have the entry ready and here is what we have said. Sadly not a feeder.
The Cape Honeysuckle is not related to the common Honeysuckle (Lonicera) of gardens, and is an evergreen shrub with scrambling stems and clusters of bright orange tubular flowers. Although this plant is not considered toxic, it is high in tannins and saponins and so we would not advise feeding it to a tortoise.
Hope this helps.
Lin
