Plant ID fron Graziella

Use this forum for identification of plants and flowers found in countries outside the UK. To allow us to help provide accurate identification we need clear pictures of the whole plant, where it is growing and close up pictures of flowers, buds or seed heads if any available. It would also be useful to see pictures showing the leaf attached to the stem.

Hi Graziella,
Lin has posted your photos and we think that the one with the light purple flowers is Plumbago. Here is a link to our entry for it:

and you can see that it is a no feed.
The other plant is a bit difficult (it would help to see those flower buds open). We think it might be a Moss Rose

If your tortoise accidentally nibbled some of the Moss Rose it wouldn't hurt him, but I definitely wouldn't deliberately feed. The Plumbago, however, is toxic so do keep that well away from them.
I hope that helps, and do get back to us with any more questions. And I also hope the sun is shining on your lovely tortoises in Malta!

Oops, update on that second photo. We've had another look and we think that it is probably Purslane, rather than Moss Rose:

Have a look and see what you think. The advice would be the same though as for the Moss Rose (they are closely related) -- don't feed but don't be alarmed if your tortoise accidentally nibbles a leaf or two.
