Weeds

Use this forum for identification of plants and flowers found in countries outside the UK. To allow us to help provide accurate identification we need clear pictures of the whole plant, where it is growing and close up pictures of flowers, buds or seed heads if any available. It would also be useful to see pictures showing the leaf attached to the stem.

Hi

Please can you help me to identify this very annoying invasive weed and whether it is safe to feed to my tortoises?

Regards

Julie

Hi Julie.
Sadly because of the abundance you can guess that this is not going to be a good feed and the reason we say that is because it has an 'umbel' flower, meaning it is shaped like an umbrella. There are so many of these plants that are toxic so we have decided to play safe and advise against feeding with the exception of a few we can ID 100%.

With regards to the invasivness if this. Your best bet would be to use gloves to breal off any flower head before seeds form, pull or dig up what you can recognise and from now on never allow seeds to drop. It will take you a good few years but you will win in the end.
