Succulent id

Hi Phil,

The photos are a little blurry, but it does look like Mother of Thousands (Kalanchoe diagramontiana, or one of the similar species) to me. You can tell for sure as there will almost always be baby plantlets that grow from the ridges on the edges of the leaves. These drop to the ground and take root and you will have loads of them. Unfortunately they aren't good to feed to Shelly -- here is our entry for this plant:

Some properties that are toxic to mammals aren't toxic to tortoises, and several species of tortoise have been seen to nibble this species in the wild, so if Shelly happened to eat a bit that fell to the ground she would probably come to no harm, but it's best to err on the side of caution and not feed this one.
