Succulent id

Use this forum for identification of plants and flowers found in the UK. To allow us to help provide accurate identification we need clear pictures of the whole plant, where it is growing and close up pictures of flowers, buds or seed heads if any available. It would also be useful to see pictures showing the leaf attached to the stem.

Hi Phil,

The photos are a little blurry, but it does look like Mother of Thousands (Kalanchoe diagramontiana, or one of the similar species) to me. You can tell for sure as there will almost always be baby plantlets that grow from the ridges on the edges of the leaves. These drop to the ground and take root and you will have loads of them. Unfortunately they aren't good to feed to Shelly -- here is our entry for this plant:
https://www.thetortoisetable.org.uk/pla ... nt=674&c=3
Some properties that are toxic to mammals aren't toxic to tortoises, and several species of tortoise have been seen to nibble this species in the wild, so if Shelly happened to eat a bit that fell to the ground she would probably come to no harm, but it's best to err on the side of caution and not feed this one.
