Plant ID please (UK)

Use this forum for identification of plants and flowers found in the UK. To allow us to help provide accurate identification we need clear pictures of the whole plant, where it is growing and close up pictures of flowers, buds or seed heads if any available. It would also be useful to see pictures showing the leaf attached to the stem.

Hi Laura,

So sorry to be late in responding to your post -- for some reason our notification system went on the blink over the weekend.
Yes, your first photo definitely looks like Bristly Oxtongue. Here is our entry for it on the website -- have a look and see if this is similar to your plant: https://www.thetortoisetable.org.uk/pla ... frcIfinxHA As you can see from the 'traffic light' coding, it is safe to feed, so well done!

Your second photo is of Dock: https://www.thetortoisetable.org.uk/pla ... frdPPinx_8, and as you can see, we don't recommend feeding this. It isn't actually poisonous, but is very anti-nutritional and so I wouldn't include it in his diet.

And many apologies for keeping you waiting so long for an answer!

Nina
