Dear Lin and Nina,
Shelby is enjoying his new home and I’m trying to extend my plant knowledge
All of these are growing in the weeds in the garden. Any ideas please?

Hi Sarah,

I'm so, so sorry to be late in answering this! Lin isn't well and I'm been rushed off my feet this last week for various reasons. So glad to hear that Shelby is doing really well!
Regarding the plants:
In the first set of photos we thing that:
1st photo -- Aquilegia -- https://www.thetortoisetable.org.uk/pla ... Zz8h7qnw2F
2nd photo -- Sowthistle -- https://www.thetortoisetable.org.uk/pla ... Zz8tbqnw2E
3rd photo -- it's a bit hard to see but looks like Buttercup -- https://www.thetortoisetable.org.uk/pla ... Zz85bqnw2E

Second set of photos
1st photo -- I wasn't sure about this, but Lin thinks it's one of the Hawks (Crepis) -- https://www.thetortoisetable.org.uk/pla ... Zz9Nrqnw2E
2nd photo -- Nipplewort -- https://www.thetortoisetable.org.uk/pla ... Zz9g7qnw2E
3rd photo -- Purple-leaved Toadflax https://www.thetortoisetable.org.uk/pla ... Zz71Lqnw2F

Hope that helps!

Nina

Brilliant to hear from you Nina, and it hasn’t been long at all.

I’ve been examining the garden for weeds to add some variety. I thought it was sow thistle and hawkweed (I’m slowly learning lol) but it’s so nice to have the confirmation.
Shelby seems to have a whole smorgasbord outside - I keep telling my husband to leave all the weeds alone lol.
I hope life is kind this week.
Thanks as always for the wonderful job you do here
Sarah

Thanks so much for your kind words, Sarah! And you have now officially become a member of the Crazy Tortoise Ladies Society, joining the other members in treasuring weeds above the flowers that most people covet, and feeling a soaring feeling in your heart when you spy a previously undiscovered specimen of plantain or sowthistle. The tortoises of this world are grateful to you and your other tortoise-keeping friends!! :D :D
