Hetty - Spur Thigh. - Somerset/Devon borders

Post by lin » 19 Oct 2022, 15:40

Dear Hetty is an older lady, a Mediterranean Spur Thigh tortoise (Testudo graeca), from the Somerset/Devon borders. She entered the country being one of a few survivors from an illegal shipment back in the days.  Her age, at a guess is somewhere between 50 and 70 years old and what an impressive sight she is.  Sadly though her owner has now passed and Hetty is looking for a special place that she can settle and spend her days just plodding along being a loved tortoise in the proper conditions and, of course, a nice big safe garden.  She’s not asking for much, is she?
She is, at the moment being look after and has been changed from a ‘not so great’ diet to one that is worthy of a grand old lady, and all but a little of the Romaine Lettuce is left amongst the chopped weeds and flowers Hetty is enjoying.
Hetty’s carer has offered to drive Hetty to her new home or, at the very least to meet half way to ensure that people are not put off because of the distance.
If you can offer Hetty a home then contact simon@county-security.com (you may have to cut and paste the address) using Rehome Hetty in the subject line and let the carer know what you have to offer, what tortoises you already have and some photos of how you intend to keep Hetty if you are chosen.
Good luck Hetty in finding your new home.
