REHOMED - 4 tortoises in Hull need rehoming

Post by Stevie » 07 Jun 2020, 20:59

SEE POST BELOW FOR UPDATE

After a lot of deliberation, my husband and I are contemplating rehoming our 4 tortoises (2 Hermanns and 2 Horsfield). It is killing us inside but we feel that we can’t provide them with the space, environment and attention they deserve.

We want to find homes for them where they are going to be the centre of someone’s world.

Can be rehomed individually as they all live separately (this is what part of the issue is) as we have one female Hermann’s (14), one male Hermanns (13)and two male Horsfields (12).

They are all currently in indoor tables, have outdoor runs which they use when nice weather. The tables and runs could be bigger but we just don’t have the room. They also all hibernate in the winter in a fridge.

We feel like we just can’t devote enough time to looking after them and they do not deserve that.

Any questions please email stevefarey82@gmail.com

Thank you

Hi Steve.
Thats a hard and sad decision to have to make but a very brave one.
Can I mail you and ask a few questions and hopefully we can set about getting these little ones up for you to decide if there is anyone out there that will be perfect for you and your babies.

All these tortoises have found suitable homes now. Thanks people.

Here are the details of these four tortoises from Hull that require rehoming. They are two Hermanns and two Horsfields who currently live separately.

It is after a great deal of thought that the owner (Email details below) has come to the sad decision to allow these much loved tortoises to go to a home/homes that can give them the time and space they need. Ideally the owner would like these to go to homes with a secure garden and heated accommodation both inside and out as this is what they have been used to for most of their life.

They hibernate naturally every winter for around 12 to 14 weeks and have no known health issues and live happily in separate enclosures. The owner has said they can go as two separate groups or individuals but must be kept in the correct groups (female can be introduced to a group of other femaies but not a lone male, and the same is said for the males) and will be asking plenty of questions.

You can email your interest direct to the owner with details of what you can offer, your experience with tortoises, and photos of your full setup (not a closeup of part of it) and title the message ‘Rehoming tortoises’ to Steve here: ...removed...

Please remember that the policies of The Tortoise Table do NOT allow money to change hands when rehoming a tortoise.
COVID-19 - it is essential that government guidelines are followed.

Please keep the TTT updated of any progress either way.

Nina & the team.
