Hi Joe,
If you got this fellow wouldn't you think OMG he needs a good clean to get all of that off his shell and let the UV in? I would. But despite all of the 'coat' s/he looks so healthy!

Very interesting Elaine...does UV pass thru all that algae ?..Musks aren't known for basking unlike sliders and spend most of the time on the bottom but a basking area should still be provided,as this picture shows they do bask...I've a cracking picture of a map Turtle that is so cover in algae it looks like it's wearing a green fluffy coat..
