Hey everyone

So Dumbledore likes to nibble on empty snail shells while rooting around under my rose bush, is this something that should be stopped?
Picture for cuteness as I haven’t shared one yet :D

Thanks

Cheryl

Hi Cheryl.
I don't think it is anything that will harm Dumbledore because its only the shell, but I also dont think it is something I would allow. Snail can carry flukes liver fluke, its a parasitic trematode (flat worm) that infects sheep and cattle in the UK. Liver fluke is also a zoonotic disease which means it can infect people. It isnt something that I would like to have myself or have tortoises picking it up.
So IMO I would do my best to remove the shells but not worry to much if he eats the odd one, once in a while.

He is a very handsome young man, I must say.

Thanks Lin, much appreciated.
Definitely don’t want any type of worms (for Dumbledore or myself! :D ) so looks like I’ll be busy removing shells from the border this weekend
