Hello, I'm having a problem with the plants in my Tortoise's outdoor enclosure getting white powder mildew on them this year. I know its a fungus that grows on plants when the conditions are cool and moist. But what I need to find out is if it is harmful to my Tortoise if he eats some plants that have the mildew?

Yes, powdery mildew has been a big problem this year, and I have lots of it in my garden. As far as I know it is not toxic to tortoises (whereas black mould can be toxic). My tortoises have eaten some Evening Primrose leaves with mildew on them with no ill effects. I think I would avoid feeding lots of it though, just in case. You could wash the mildew off the leaves first if you have picked some to feed him, but I wouldn’t worry too much if he nibbles some leaves on his wanderings around the garden.
