Re: Hibernation
Hiya. Its good that all seems pretty stable but in the last week, of week 8, when she should have been most settled she looses 6g. Could this be a pointer that it was a wee. If there was no clumping last week when you weighed her and a few days later there was. If she were mine I would personally ta...

Re: Tortoise Friendly Garden Ideas
Hiya. Sounds like a plan coming together and when its underway we would love to be updated with photos if you have time. As you have found that whatever you plant will be eaten to the ground as soon as they find it so it may be better to plant in a raised bed and allow overhang that they can get to ...

Re: Ideas for Low-Light, Indoor, Russian Tort Plants
I would have said the same Nina but I have just seen that the Campanula grow in USDA zone 4 which is -20F to -30F and lower. Quite a hardy little plant. Lin [quote=Nina post_id=1375 time=1514999840 user_id=52] Campanulas are great plants, and I agree that they are very hardy, but I'm not sure if the...

Happy New year to you and Steve from me too.
Can I add that Campanula does well left outside and if you look at the photos in our entry you can see one that is covered in melting snow.

Once you start looking into the webpages it is quite a large place and often growing, especially the database. Between here and the FB page we do sometimes get a bit slow but do our best to keep up - If theres anything else you need Will, just get back and we will do our best. Have a Happy New...

Re: Feed, safe, moderation, sparingly, not
Hi Will, glad you found it - lol I dont know if you have seen this but it might throw some light on your questions on how often to feed specific colour codes, you have to scroll down a bit. There are no hard and fast rules just to make sure that tortoises dont have to much of one code. Its fine for ...

Re: REHOMED - Hermanns for rehoming - Somerset
It would be nice but dont hold out for him coming up before the spring. A sleeping tortoise will not get up once dug in and comfortable. I would hedge my bets on that is what has happened. I have heard of some people finding their tortoises over a year down the line in the same garden they were last...

Ok, no worries and I am sorry for your loss but I am afraid to say that this one isnt yours as it was found around six years ago. Have you thought yours might have dig down during a cool snap and decided to hibernate. You never know, he may pop back up in the spring. Never give up though and always ...

REHOMED - Hermanns for rehoming - Somerset
This adorable young man (that could be female) really needs a nice forever home to settle into before Christmas. Hi, sorry I dont know your name but welcome to the forum. I would think the reason behind this is that everything is new and she will take a while to settle. What substrate was she on when you collected her, can you remember? There is a bit of speculation over what to use as substrate but most torto...

Hi Yasmine. If your tortoises are showing to be a bit underweight them maybe it is better not to hibernate. However, I think this is for the younger tortoises so maybe try this calculator out and see if its showing correct. http://www.tortoise-protection-group.org.uk/site/171.asp There is also our w...

The second photo with the line of fuzzy leaves I think are young wild Burdock and a no feed. Agree with Nina with the hardy Geranium . We would need to know if the top photo is from a tree seedling or a low growing plant. Is the stem hard and woody like?. It does look like a sapling so have a look f...
