Re: Plant ID Please

I have just answered this and then lost the post  Is that really a caterpillar eating the main leaf in the 2nd photo. It would be best to let this grow a bit further for us to id it properly, and I agree with Nina on the tree seedlings, perhaps Ash but can’t be sure till it gets a little...

Re: The feeding headaches

Hi Laura You really are going above and beyond Puc’s needs serving a brunch as mouthwatering as that. He would be mad to turn his nose up 😂 Just a couple of add on’s to what Nina has said. Leopards, as with all tortoises, will only release excess urates and Leopards, like most, if not all the biggie...

Re: Night box design.

Oh wow. That looks brilliant and the space outside is amazing. Well done.
I think the insulation Nina is thinking of is Kingspan, but I used to use loft insulation held in place by ply wood or hardboard and paint that white for brightness. It was a lot cheaper.

Re: Night box design.

Hi MiriPiri, thanks for contacting us. For me to advise it would be so much easier if you send in a few photos of the layout of the areas that you are talking about. Insulating the shed would make a big difference but I’m wondering if the windows would be allowing the cold through (seeing how it goe...

REHOMED - Male Horsfield - North Lanarkshire

Flash is a 7 year old male Horsfield from North Lanarkshire, Scotland who, because of a change in circumstances the present owner is looking for a lovely family to take over his care. Flash does love eating a wild diet and some on the naughty list if he is offered although this could be easily chang...

Re: UVB and outdoor cold frames

Hi TP
A cold frame is a good idea for those chilly moments but your right in thinking they do not allow UVB through. Maybe think about making one yourself out of Lumisol, although it is fairly expensive it does allow the UV to pass through.

Re: Temperature probe

Hi Sarah. Is the probe on the floor or near the floor? It can be moved up to just above the height of the shell with no temp adjustments and being out of line of sight it might be enough to stop Shelby attempting to eat the probe. Give raising it a tad to see if it helps and let us know on a day or ...

Re: Type of basking light and fittings for outdoors?

Hi Denise I bet Mable and Daphne are going to love it outside in their new enclosure. Regarding the lights and bulbs, the answer is yes, the same as for indoors because you got a proper leccy to do the electrics and they are all watertight using the same is good. I can’t wait for a photo with the to...

REHOMED Mo - male Horsfield from Aylesbury Buckinghamshire

Mo is a 9 year old male Horsfield from Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire who is looking for someone to take over his care. He is one of two males that sadly needs to be separated and the owner does not have the room for separate setups. Mo is not keen on a natural diet and if you are the one to take over...

Re: More plants for id thanks

Hi TP. I have answered alongside your suggestions below. 1. yellow flower. Is this a dandelion? The leaves weren't serrated so I'm not sure. I would say Hawkweed. 2. Small green leaves - any idea? Not a clear photo TP but it looks like one of the Trefoils 3. I thought this was plantain but the leave...

Although Sid has been weaned off his previous diet, he is still re...

Re: sterilising soil

Can I ask what topsoil you have Jane, and why you are baking it? I have heard it’s a bit smelly inside the house and I don’t know anyone that bakes it. However, the soil shouldn’t be totally dry but with the play sand mixed with it should make it so slightly moist that a little in your palm and sque...

Hi TP. Gonzales is looking good. I am going to agree with Nina in thinking it’s all clean and not a problem. Keep up with daily gentle scrubs with a soft brush (toothbrush or a natural bristle nail brush) and you will find it helps it to heal a lot faster. The scutes that are going to come off will ...
