Re: Growing near my home

Hi May.
The top one with the yellow flowers does look like one of the Coreopsis to me but wait and see if Nina can confirm. The other one is Nasturtium and that one is fine in moderation.
Hope thats ok.

Re: doubt about purple clover

Hi Asecca. What a lovely chap he is. So smooth.
I will let Nina carry on and answer you when she gets back but in the mean time there is a translate tab that can be found towards the bottom of the homepage that will help.
It looks like this.

Re: How much food?

Hiya. Food is determine more by weight than the amount to give. We usually say to weigh a tortoise regularly and log the weight he is gaining or loosing. if its too much either way then we would adjust accordingly so that they only put on a few grams a month. If you look under the Care menu at the w...

Re: lighting for Greek spur-thighed tortoise

Hi Zaffy.

I have to admit that although the graph is much clearer I still cant understand exactly what it is saying. However what you need to know is that the 12 to 14 inches height is fine and so long as the temps are correct under the lamp and the cooler end he will be great.

Re: lighting for Greek spur-thighed tortoise

Hi Zaffy. Nina has gon out for the day so I have stepped in. Hope you don't mind. The UVA is fine and the mercury vapor bulb you have is also good. As its only 80W it should only be about 12" to 14" high I think but we will double check that and get back to you. Would you be able to send i...

Re: A Couple of Plant IDs please.

Hiya.
The plant unknows 1 - is speedwell is okay fed only sparingly because it is quite high in tannins.
Plant unknown 2 - is Buttercup and not a feed.
The plant you thought is Boston Fern is not. To me it looks like one of the Euphoria and is toxic so stear clear of this one.

I'm glad we are both singing from the same book Nina.
IMO - If the soil is darker only around the back end and not all over then it will have to be for a reason and because of that I would get her up rather than leave things to chance.

Re: Hibernation

Hiya. Its good that all seems pretty stable but in the last week, of week 8, when she should have been most settled she looses 6g. Could this be a pointer that it was a wee. If there was no clumping last week when you weighed her and a few days later there was. If she were mine I would personally ta...

Re: Tortoise Friendly Garden Ideas

Hiya. Sounds like a plan coming together and when its underway we would love to be updated with photos if you have time. As you have found that whatever you plant will be eaten to the ground as soon as they find it so it may be better to plant in a raised bed and allow overhang that they can get to ...

I would have said the same Nina but I have just seen that the Campanula grow in USDA zone 4 which is -20F to -30F and lower. Quite a hardy little plant. Lin [quote=Nina post_id=1375 time=1514999840 user_id=52] Campanulas are great plants, and I agree that they are very hardy, but I'm not sure if the...

Happy New year to you and Steve from me too.

Can I add that Campanula does well left outside and if you look at the photos in our entry you can see one that is covered in melting snow.

Re: Feed, safe, moderation, sparingly, not

Hi Will, glad you found it - lol I dont know if you have seen this but it might throw some light on your questions on how often to feed specific colour codes, you have to scroll down a bit. There are no hard and fast rules just to make sure that tortoises dont have to much of one code. Its fine for ...
