Re: New owner - marginated tortoises hibernating help!
Hiya, sorry I don’t know your name, but thanks for contacting us. The lovely Margies, beautiful tortoises aren’t they. After reading your message the first thing I would suggest is because you have only had them for what must be around 6 months it is not advisable to hibernate until they have been i...

REHOMED - Wilson - (M) 5 years old Horsfield. West Midlands
Sadly, the lovely Wilson, 5 year old male Horsfield needs to find a home where he will be loved for and given the care he deserves. He eats a fresh wild diet and when it’s unavailable he will eat Floretti salad mix or something similar grabbed from the supermarket. Wilson just loves to roam around t...

He weighs over 31kg (yes, that’s almost 5 stone at last weighing 😍) and can be collected from Suffolk. Sheldon has now m...

Hi Phil As far as I am aware isopods are used as a clean up crew, eating dead vegetation and the fungus gnat eggs. Yes, a tortoise will most probably eat them if they come across any and even get some excercise whilst hunting for them but I wouldn’t overdo then or use as a food because as we know th...

I agree Phil.
To stand by and watch this happen without research is despicable.
Poor little thing and you can even see a look of confusion on hos poor little face.

Rehome - Speedy male Horsfield - Worcester
Speedy is a 4 year old male Hermann, located near St Peters in Worcester, (owner is willing to deliver if the right person is found within a reasonable distance). Speedy is out growing his indoor tortoise table and has started constantly trying to escape, so a new build was in the pipeline with a mu...

Or you could try the sundew carnivorous plants Phil, Drosera species. They are amazing for those little flies and if you just place a few around the top of your enclosure I’m sure it will do the trick and you will never get it stuck in your hair like a flypaper 😂 They are easy to grow and if you kee...

REHOMED - Lilleggs - male Horsfield. London
We have an 8 year old male Horsfield from London, whose owner, although heartbroken, would love to see him settled into a loving caring home while she is still able because of her own health and is finding it becoming more and more difficult to care for Lilleggs. Lilleggs diet consists of a mixed he...

Re: Grass, moss, and earth
Oh my! What a beauty he is. The grass and a bit of moss wouldn’t be harmful to Gonzales, some species that don’t usually eat grassed do take a liking to it. I know Nina’s two horsfields readily eat grass. 😂 , and I doubt the earth would be a problem either in the wild they would encounter it and if ...

REHOMED Female Horsfield. - West Dunbartonshire
What a lovely tortoise Twiggles is, a female Horsfield of 5 years old from West Dunbartonshire. She has been a school tortoise for about a year and is now in the care of a ‘foster home’, shall we say because it isn’t necessary to leave her in the school now the caregiver has retired. So, through no...

Hi Phil
If he has nowhere to go to warm up then I would put him out but keep watch for when he slows down and bring him in to warm up. He can go out again if he warms up though.
