Re: Tortoise Table

Lovely thank you Nina, I’ll take a look at those links and yes I know about them needing to be hung straight, I’ll definitrly be doing that, I have the L shape hanger all ready plus the guy who made the table has made me another that goes right across in case I ever go back to a uvb tube. Would you ...

Re: Tortoise Table

Nina, that is marvellous, thank you, you have eased my mind completely! I’ve been in complete stress hell all night over it. Just the thoughts they’ve put in my mind the cruel (I shan’t put what I want to put ha). They even went as far as saying Vera would contract Herpes and that switching suddenly...

Re: Tortoise Table

Hi Nina, thank you for your post. The shops are in and around the North East of England. I was shocked, and it’s scared me a little. I just want what’s best for Vera, and this has rocked the boat a little. They informed me that the people who write the articles for the likes of the Tortoise Trust do...

Re: Tortoise Table

That moment I head into several reptile shops to price up mercury bulbs and the domes for Vera’s tortoise table and I’m told that by transferring him from a Viv to a table will slowly kill him and I’m wrong for doing it and that all vets and trusted tortoise experts say the tortoise tables are bad f...

Re: Vera!!

Sounds like it’s quite the trend then!!! Nina wrote: > Well, I have sort of been through the reverse. But after five or six years it became obvious that > Boris was female (and then...

Re: Vera!!

HA HA, arrrrrr Nina you make me laugh!! Randall is also another name I’ve thrown into the bag as he is a recurring character throughout Stephen King’s novels (I’m a bookaholic!), but I think it’s going to be Atticus! I’m still calling him Vera. I cannot see Vera as a he. This may take some getting u...

Re: Vera!!

Nina that is absolutely amazing ... it honestly amazes me. My mind goes into overdrive with things like this.
I’ve decided as To Kill A Mockingbird is my all time favourite book, Vera is now going to be Atticus!

Re: Vera!!

Hi Nina, YES that’s what I saw! I panicked and was on my way to phone the vets as I thought it was a prolapse or something and then I stopped and thought ‘wait’ I need to check this out and voila! I’ll take a photo shortly and upload it of the underside. Name wise I’m thinking Percy or Cecil!

Re: Tortoise Table

Hi Nina, thanks for the advice. I might put a divider in her room with a doorway on that so she has two smaller rooms then when she gets bigger I can take the divider out and she’ll have the larger area. The ceramic heater was ‘surprise surprise’ at the advice of the shop I got her (now he) from. I ...

Re: Tortoise Table

Hi Nina, thanks for your post! At the moment she has a UV tube light and a ceramic heater on a thermostatic controller. Obviously this will not be so soon. Can you tell I’m excited for this tortoise table, it will be here this coming week?! I am thinking to start with I may try a mercury combined bu...

Hi Nina, thank you so much for your post, that all makes perfect sense now. Do you have much experience if combined bulbs, how long do they last? I will definitely be uploading photos for you all to see!

Re: Tortoise Table

Hello my lovely bunch, how are you all? Sorry, it's been a while since I have been online, life has been a little crazy over the last year and everything was put on hold, but now, it is time for Vera to migrate to her new tortoise table which I can happily (with a big smile) say is on order and shou...

Will!

Hey everyone!

Now, I know this is a subject which we all don't like discussing but when it comes to will writing, what have you, or do you have suggestions for your tortoise as we all know there's a high chance they're going to outlive us?

Thank you.

Re: Scruffy Tortoise!

She is in her inside home ... she is fine once she is in her outdoor enclosure. I've attached some photos ... hope they've come through. Elaine - her temps are fine, I always check them to ensure there's no change. I think she is just a scruff and likes a bit of filth ;) And her cuttlefish bless her...

Scruffy Tortoise!

Is Vera the only one or are other's tortoises filthy??? Vera is obsessed with getting herself in her water dish, getting wet, then parading around in her soil. I'm not joking ... there was a bit of dried soil on her head yesterday that must have been about an inch thick ... I mean, seriously??? Here...

Tortoise Table

Hello! OK so it's time ... plans are in action to transfer Vera to a tortoise table, and not only at home but at our new caravan too. Can I have some expert advice on the set up please? I'm getting the tortoise table and popping the top soil/playsand mixture in with her usual plants, stones and dish...
