Re: Hi and enclosure plant advice

Yes, they do seed and i only pulled some seed off and dropped then in the garden. I have them all out the front now. Oh, I did click on the pic but it was still to distent for the small oval leaves to identify them. Are they fuzzy. Go for the big planter, I was always under the impression that size ...

Re: Hi and enclosure plant advice

Wow. Those look just the ticket and the tortoises muct be in their element out there. Brilliany work and the hill can be a work in progress for another time. As for the plants. They are to far away to see clearly so would you be able to take a closer pic of them and send it so we can have a look. Lin

Re: Hi and enclosure plant advice

You are so right. A tortoise keeper's work is never done. Good luck with the enclosures and we would love the photos of the end results with tortoises in situ. Fingers crossed for sunshine. The topiary frame, as you say is fairly easy and much much cheaper than you would but from anywhere. have a go...

Nina will get back to you when she can but she is spending some time with her grandchildren this week.

I suspect she has still got it but maybe a little overgrown causing a bumpy shell with sprouts on - lol.

Oh no. I also cant understand why we wasnt notified of your message and cant understand why. This is so sad and I agree with what Nina ia saying. I wouldn't have thought that a worm load, unless it was so severe would have done this and do wonder if there was an underlying problem that may not have ...

They really are gentle giants but I have had my fair share of accidents with them and the power when they get to 20 odd years is something to behold.

Heres one of my Sali with a loned baby for size difference - lol.

Oh yes. I think that nutter may have been me - :D In my day a few years back these are my two that I sadly had to rehome because it was getting to much to feed and keep them through the winter and the summers we were having, like this one, meant the poor things were stuck indoors to much for my liki...

Re: Sulcata Enclosure

Oh my. He must be getting quite big now, and the thing with sulcatas is that they only ever grow, they never seem to get any smaller  I would go along the lines of a large shed that can be replaced in a new home. A large shed with a good window space to let in light and it can be fitted with a ...

Hi Stevie.

These dont look like they are feedable plants but to be 100% sure we would need pics of them again in a couple of weeks time when they have grown on a bit.

Re: Could you identify these plants please?

Hi Steve. The purple flower in your hand, I would like it if you could send in a close up of the flower as it dont look like what the leaves above are saying it could be. The next one down with the big green wavy leaves is Horseradish an listed as a feed sparingly -- you can see the entry here. http...

Re: New family member, George the Hermann

Well he sure does look fit and healthy from here Rachael, a very lovely looking tortoise. I would maybe just give him one chance a day to eat because if you keep offering he could get stroppy and decide that you will always be there to offer something else. Give it a few days and I reckon he will be...

Re: New family member, George the Hermann

Hiya. George is more than likely just settling in. This can take a few days taking in the newness, the sights and smells that he has never encountered. In the meantime try and keep the time you put out his food to around the same time, same area and then move away from the enclosure to where he can ...

Re: Willowherb?

The thing about Willowherb is that it is very invasive in the garden and once you have one lot of seeds disperse then its everywhere. Luckily its easy enough to pull up and keep in check (only leaving what you need for the tortoise) if you don't allow the seeds to pop and pull while the flowers are ...

Re: Is this actually a Sansevieria?

It looks like you could pot it up but only a slightly larger pot as they do like to be pot bound. There are also a type of Sansevieria called Birds Nest Sansevieria that grow with shorter leaves and are formed into a plate shape rather than the upright leaves we know. They are lovely plants and surv...
