Oh I've not tried with running water over his back.
His new enclosure is all complete ... I've popped the photos over on the enclosures section.

Re: Rehoming Info for Hermann Tortoise
Awwwwwwwwww. I'm overjoyed too. He's quite the character. Cannot wait to see what he makes of a 6ft table. He's even going to have a bath in there (well a glorified one made out of a cat litter tray lol) as opposed to his plant pot dish. I will definitely send photos. He celebrated today by having b...

Re: Rehoming Info for Hermann Tortoise
Good news to report ... Vivacious Vera is staying, yeahhhhh!!!!
So, now that's set in stone, we can get on with our new project that's been in the pipeline for him, which is extending his tortoise table to 6ft. Watch this space for photos ...

Re: Rehoming Info for Hermann Tortoise
Hi Lin
That's great, thank you!!
Yes I know about the money situation. I wouldn't be looking for money. As long as (if it came to it) Vera went to a good loving home, that's all that would matter to me.
I'll keep you updated.

Rehoming Info for Hermann Tortoise
Hi girls, hope you're well. It is with huge sadness I write this post but we may be needing to have Vera (Hermann) rehomed. Due to family circumstances and a life changing occurrence, we think it would probably be best if he was rehomed (yes Vera is a he lol ... we thought he was a she and when we f...

Absolutely! I
I did drop the bulb down to increase the temps a little as advised by the vet.
Just wondering if this was the reason.

Re: Noise
Woop I did it, he squeaked twice - on video however it won't allow me to upload. I left the video mounted and running. He's a character mind. Is there an email I can send it to? Please don't shoot me down for using bark. We couldn't carry on with the soil. He squeaks twice on video, the second being...

In true animal form he doesn't want to squeak on video. He likes to do it off cam. I've held his back to my ear and I cannot hear a thing.

Re: Noise
The pup is on the road to recovery thank goodness and the rabbit is better too. Helter skelter journey!
I will try and get a video tomorrow morning for you when I wake him. I would have thought if it was anything respiratory it would be all of the time, and even occurring when sleeping. Yes, no?

Re: Noise
Lin, at the moment our lives is the motto 'it never rains, it pours!'. Our puppy has just had to have major spinal surgery, our house rabbit has been ill with gastro and now this ... WE ARE DOOMED!!! When I wake him in the morning I'll try and have a listen with my ear to his back, and definitely no...

Re: Noise
Well ... there's been an odd squeak through the day, but when I've put the light out for bed its started again. He's been active all day, he's eaten, he's pee'd and poo'd, no runny nose and no runny eyes. I've called the vets and I'm to monitor him as it could be a respiratory infection. What do you...

Man flu ... awwwwww that's marvellous and sounds about right!
Yes, he was cold. I had just popped the light on and he was waking up.
As I type this he is stuffing his face with his dinner. Plus he hasn't stopped all morning so no sign of no eating or lethargy etc.

Thanks for the quick reply Nina.
In himself (found out she was a he and didn't have the heart to change name after 5yrs) he is fine. Normal activity and eating like a typical bloke!

Noise
Hi everyone,
I have a question; do Hermanns make noises?
For the first time ever, that I have heard anyway, Vera is making a noise. Almost a squeak, almost a sound like a squeaky shoe.
Any clues?

Re: Water Dish!
That’s made me chuckle; I definitely fit both stereotypes!
Graffiti?? Oh there’s graffiti alright! There’s no ‘Vera woz ‘ere’’ but there’s dried caked mud all around the inner walls.
I tell you Nina, that tortoise thinks of EVERYTHING!

Re: Water Dish!
This is the dish he had in his vivarium Nina. I don’t know if the new one was maybe just a little bit too deep for him climbing in and out of. That I think as well as a million and one bits of loose slate. Yes, this one is shallow but still deep enough for a soak and a drink. He can sit for ages in ...

Re: Water Dish!
OooooO but isn’t Oxford posh?
Ok, so I’ve tidied up a bit. I’ve told him he’s been naughty, his ‘slate’ privileges have gone and he’s grounded and back to basics with a shallower dish!
