Re: Scute looks damaged

Hi TP, thanks for the good photos, it really helps. When you first got this little guy was this damaged scute already visible? I think it’s an old injury, it looks dry. It that particular scute a little loose? My guess is that it’s fine and with you bathing him I have found it does help with the hea...

Hiya. That’s really lovely of you to take on the care of Dougal. I’m not sure if he is a Mediterranean or North African so I have included the caresheet for the Med species. There’s lots of info in there so have a look through for ideas. https://www.tortoise-protection-group.org.uk/site/files/TGG%20...

REHOMED - Frank ‘n’ Stein. Bedford

Here we have two handsome young Hermanni males aged around 23 years from Wootton, Bedford. The owners are heartbroken to have to let these move onto the next chapter of their lives but would love to see them rehomed together as they have been all their lives. They are very interactive (some call it ...

Re: Hermanns set up

Hi Norm2020.
The shell is looking great from here and she is looking bright eyed and bushy tailed and walking nice and high. So from what I can see she looks great as does her shell.
Nina will be on a bit later and let you know her thoughts.
Well done.

Hi Georgina. What adorable parents they were and I can totally understand your feelings of the hole that Frank ‘n’ Stein are going to leave. I will set this up today and get it on the Facebook page, that gets a lot more traffic than the forum here. Will you be so kind as to send me your email to the...

Re: Rehoming Advertising Protocol and Disclaimer

Hi Georgina, what a shame you have to rehome your beautiful babies and I am so sorry to hear your health isn’t as good as it should be. I do love their names and would you mind if I ask a couple of questions. Are you 100% sure of the sex. Another thing I would like to ask is would you like to remove...

REHOMED - Jack - Maidstone

Handsome ‘Jack’, from Maidstone, the owner feels that it is now time for this lovely Hermanni Hermanni to move on, he is ready for a nice new home now that he has been transitioned onto a good proper tortoise diet after being offered a not so good diet at his previous home. He would love indoor spac...

Hi Louis.
As you say kiwi is a little young to sex but he is certainly displaying the tail of a male. I would say you are right in your thoughts.
Best of luck in their future care, and if there’s anything we can do for you then please do ask.

Hi Amber. It’s good to hear dynamite is doing well. It’s great that he is loving life outside. If he is going to be spending time outside while you are away then maybe a small poly house could be made with just four sides, a lid and an archway cutout could be made to take just for an extra heat boos...

Re: Tortoise safe wood preserver.

Hi Lottie.
I can’t see any reason it wouldn’t be ok to use on a tortoise enclosure. It is water based and providing it is left to throughly dry and any smells have dispersed it should be fine.
Tortoises are not known to bite at the wood anyway so IMO it will be safe.
