Deutzia

 Feed Sparingly
  • Common Name: Deutzia
  • Latin Name: Deutzia spp.
  • Family Name: Hydrangeaceae

Although Deutzia is not listed as being toxic in any obvious way (and is, in fact, considered safe for cats and dogs), at least one species (Deutzia corymbosa) contains saponins, and it is in the same family as several plants that we do not recommend feeding (Hydrangea and Philadelphus), so we would therefore urge some caution in feeding the leaves or flowers in any quantity, although it can safely be fed once in a while, or sparingly.

Flowers are mainly white, but several varieties have flowers in various shades of pink.

Do not confuse with Philadelehus (Mock Orange) which looks similar but is a different plant.
