China Doll (Serpent Tree, Emerald Tree, Asian Bell Tree, Baby Doll)

 Safe to Feed
  • Common Name: China Doll (Serpent Tree, Emerald Tree, Asian Bell Tree, Baby Doll)
  • Latin Name: Radermarchera sinica
  • Family Name: Bignoniaceae

In the wild this tropical tree can grow to 30m in height, with large trumpet-like flowers, but it is more familiar to most people as a houseplant that rarely flowers indoors.  Although some members of the Bignoniaceae family have toxic properties in their leaves and roots, we can find no evidence of toxicity in the China Doll and so it should be fine to feed to tortoises (but as with all plants it should form only a small part of a wide and varied diet).
