This common house plant is known to contain sharp calcium oxalate crystals called raphides, which can irritate the mouth, throat and internal organs if ingested. It is therefore best to avoid feeding parts of the Parlour Palm to your tortoise, but if a leaf is accidentally nibbled then there should be no great cause for alarm.
