Sneezewort - Wild (Sneezeweed, Fair Maid of France, European/Bastard/Wild Pellitory)

 Do not Feed
  • Common Name: Sneezewort - Wild (Sneezeweed, Fair Maid of France, European/Bastard/Wild Pellitory)
  • Latin Name: Achillea ptarmica
  • Family Name: Asteraceae/Compositae
This attractive perennial is said to be edible for humans but toxic to cattle, sheep and horses, and although we can find no evidence of poisoning in tortoises, we would not advise feeding it.  If, however, your tortoise takes a nibble of this plant it should not come to any harm.

Cultivated Sneezewort often has double flower heads and can be found growing in gardens.

Do not confuse with Helenium which is also called Sneezeweed but is a different plant.
