Blue-eyed Grass (Blue Eye Grass, Blue Eyed Grass, American Blue-eyed Grass)
Do not Feed
- Common Name: Blue-eyed Grass (Blue Eye Grass, Blue Eyed Grass, American Blue-eyed Grass)
- Latin Name: Sisyrinchium angustifolium, Sisyrinchium montanum
- Family Name: Iridaceae
Despite its common names, this plant isn't a grass at all, but a member of the Iris family, and most species within this genus grow from rhizomes, although some have fibrous roots.
All parts of Blue-eyed Grass contain cardiac glycosides which can adversely affect heart and gastrointestinal functions, so we do not advise feeding this plant to your tortoise (although if a small part is accidentally nibbled there is no cause for worry).
See also Sisyrinchium and Yellow-eyed Grass.
