Timothy Grass (Common Timothy, Common Cat's Tail, Meadow Cat's Tail)

 Safe to Feed
  • Common Name: Timothy Grass (Common Timothy, Common Cat's Tail, Meadow Cat's Tail)
  • Latin Name: Phleum pratense
  • Family Name: Poaceae/Gramineae
Timothy Grass is fine to grow in a tortoise enclosure and for grazing tortoises to eat, but the seed heads when dry can be sharp and could possibly cause eye or mouth injuries, so probably best to remove them.  The flowers are insignificant on Timothy Grass but the stamens give the flower spike a pink appearance.

During the winter months dried Timothy hay can be used as food for grazing tortoises.
