Bindweed (Field Bindweed)

 Feed in Moderation
  • Common Name: Bindweed (Field Bindweed)
  • Latin Name: Convolvulus arvensis.
  • Family Name: Convolvulaceae

Although Field Bindweed contains pseudotropine (as well as other tropane alkaloids), they are present in relatively modest amounts, so feeding in moderation or sparingly is acceptable, but it should only be fed as part of a wider and varied diet. Care should be taken, however, to clear enclosures of any Bindweed as the stems are strong and could cause strangulation if a tortoise became entangled in them.  Some Field Bindweed flowers are pink and white striped.
