Hydrangea contains a cyanogenic glycoside that is TOXIC to all animals and can cause gastrointestinal upset and bloody diarrhoea. 

The flowers are found in varying shades of white, blue, pink and purple, with the colours dependent on how alkaline (pink flowers) or acid (blue flowers) the soil is.
