Things are finally flowering!

Use this forum for identification of plants and flowers found in the UK. To allow us to help provide accurate identification we need clear pictures of the whole plant, where it is growing and close up pictures of flowers, buds or seed heads if any available. It would also be useful to see pictures showing the leaf attached to the stem.

Things are finally flowering!

Post by Bex » 23 Jun 2019, 13:45

Hi guys, we are getting used to our new garden! Speedy likes bramble and Tiny loves both the bindweeds, although both only moderate feeds I'm glad there trying new things. They are both doing really well and hate rainy days!

Things are growing all over the place and I have no idea what anything is! My lovely daughter showed me how to text over pictures so have numbered them all, hope it makes them easier to I.D.

1, 2, 4 and 7 are they poppies? They are everywhere!!
5 & 6 is it a thistle, it's massive!
3, 8 & 9 I have no idea
And 10 & 11 are growing near Tiny's enclosure so need to make sure it's safe please?

Thanx, Bex

Hi Bex. Its so much easier for all of us to see these numbered. Special thanks to your daughter, she's a hero.

Yes, pics 1,2,4,and 7 are the no feed Poppies.

No 3 it Tradscantia - https://www.thetortoisetable.org.uk/pla ... nt=482&c=5. Its a moderate feed.

No 5 and 6 are Bull Thistles, yes very spikey but edible none the less and for the smaller tortoises the spikes can be snipped off.

No's 8 and 9 is Curley Dock. A no feed.

No's 10 and 11 are Ivy Leaved Toadflax and fine in moderation. https://www.thetortoisetable.org.uk/pla ... nt=192&c=6

Brilliant big thank you Lin :D I will remove the no feeds and leave what's ok, glad the toadflax is ok, I will only allow a small amount to grow through though as Tiny is a little piggie!!

I'm sure I'll be back soon, as I still have lots not flowering yet 8-) hehe x
