Hey everyone. I have 2 questions that are hopefully easy. The first one is can my girls eat all parts of the spiderwort plants? I've read the entry fully but no mention of it. Second I have a section in my yard with some very tall and very wide bladed grass and I was wondering if I could feed it to my little ones.
Thank you.
Couple of quick questions
Re: Couple of quick questions
Hi Pete,
Re the Spiderwort. We have two entries for Spiderwort -- this one https://www.thetortoisetable.org.uk/pla ... QXwcI97m9s and this one https://www.thetortoisetable.org.uk/pla ... QXwwo97m9s but both of them have the same feeding advice (feed in moderation). If you look at the entry you can see a little box with a coloured leaf and flower in it. That means that both leaves and flowers can be fed (we don't usually recommend feeding roots). If something can't be fed then there is no symbol for it in the box. So for example if the leaves shouldn't be fed then you would only see a flower symbol there, and if the plant should not be fed at all then there will be no symbols in the entry.
There's an explanation of the feeding symbols and also the 'traffic light' symbols on this page:

Regarding the grass. Most grasses are edible, but a few aren't and there are some plants that look like grass but aren't actually members of the grass family. Can you send us a photo of the grass -- or ask someone if they know the name of it so that we can check it out?
Nina

Re: Couple of quick questions
Thank you so much for the information it helped tremendously. I have attached a couple of pictures of the grass in question.
Re: Couple of quick questions
Hi Pete.
I wonder if you think your grass could be Tall Fescue. I do believe it is a grass and be fine to feed but we must be sure before we can say 100% what it is. Have you got a photo of it growing in situ and is there something you could use as a market for size.

Re: Couple of quick questions
Good morning. I will take some more pictures for sizing but it looks almost identical to the fescue! That would be great.
Re: Couple of quick questions
I agree with you Pete, It probably is the fescue.
