Not plantain but what is it?

Use this forum for identification of plants and flowers found in the UK. To allow us to help provide accurate identification we need clear pictures of the whole plant, where it is growing and close up pictures of flowers, buds or seed heads if any available. It would also be useful to see pictures showing the leaf attached to the stem.

Not plantain but what is it?

Post by molly » 07 May 2017, 21:15

This looks alot like plantain but I don't think it is. It has a mid line vein not several parallel stringy veins. It's furry too. What do you think it is.

Knapweed!....... ? I have a field full of something that looks wildly similar.

Heather (so enjoying the game of looking at all the pics & trying to get the answer before reading your correct ones - rather like 'beat the into.' for records!) :D

LOL - You carry on Heather. Its a great way of learning.

Yes, I agree it could well be Knapweed. Here's a photo of Common Knapweed leaves and it does look very similar:

So well done, Heather!
