Red Valerian?

Use this forum for identification of plants and flowers found in the UK. To allow us to help provide accurate identification we need clear pictures of the whole plant, where it is growing and close up pictures of flowers, buds or seed heads if any available. It would also be useful to see pictures showing the leaf attached to the stem.

Red Valerian?

Post by eisbrecher » 17 Jun 2018, 20:19

Torkoal the Russian Tortoise has a very boring diet, with a general base of young dandelions, broad plantain, ribwort plantain & sowthistle (with the occasional hawksbit, cats-ear, deadnettle, lambs lettuce with a very occasional rocket, clover, hedge mustard, field mustard etc)

I think I have found a safe and abundant safe plant (green on the database) which could easily be a general base, Red Valerian, but I am acutely aware it could easily be something bad for him, or even deadly.

Can someone confirm this identification please? Is this Red Valerian?

Yes, you are correct in it being Red Valerian and you can add this to Torkoal's growing diet.
Well done.
