Ruellia insecticide properties?

Post by wilhelmturtletan » 09 Sep 2017, 11:31

Hi
I am reading about ruellia and found insecticidal properties in it. Is it still safe to feed it to tortoises? This is the source: http://www.stuartxchange.org/Ruellia and http://icmr.nic.in/ijmr/2014/july/0716.pdf
Thanks

And well done for finding it - we love it when people undertake their own research, as it helps us as well!
For some reason, later last night your first link worked for me too, and I notice that the first article referred to the second article (the one detailing the scientific research) for its information, and that it was specifically about Ruellia tuberosa. We're going to have another look to make sure that our entry for Ruellia is still valid -- but we might end up specifying particular species of Ruellia that are OK, and then mentioning species that are not recommended for feeding. Do you have Ruellia, and if so do you know which species you have?
