Jackson Ratio Scale

Hello

I'm planning on hibernating my 4 juvenile Hermann's for the first time this year. I wanted to check they are a healthy weight to hibernate, is the Jackson Ratio Scale suitable for juveniles? One of mine came up as too light for hibernation which surprised me. Any advice on weighing and measuring would be appreciated. :D

Thanks
Yasmin

Hi Yasmine.
If your tortoises are showing to be a bit underweight them maybe it is better not to hibernate. However, I think this is for the younger tortoises so maybe try this calculator out and see if its showing correct.

There is also our weighing and measuring article that may help too.

Hi Yasmin,

I don't know if the link that Lin gave to the Jackson Ratio chart is for juveniles as well as adults, but it might well be (maybe someone can come on and confirm). The only other version of the Jackson ratio that I know of is one for hatchlings -- here is a link to it: http://postimg.org/image/8m3jn76a3/
