Indoor tortoise

Post by Sallyholman » 17 Oct 2018, 19:29

Although my tortoise lives indoors on a tortoise table with the correct light uv ets, I am concerned that she is not eating regularly and sleeps a lot

Hi Sally.
I would imagin its to do with hibernation time being just round the corner. What species is your tortoise?
If you are planning to hibernate him let me know and I will send you on some articles on how to do that if you need them, but if thats the case then he will need to be correctly wound down first. Try and keep him awake by making sure he has plenty of bright light around him so he may be fooled into thinking its summer and check his hot and cool basking areas are the correct temps. Because the ambient temps are cooling down now autumn is here it is often difficult for us to keep them awake, but just get him up a few times a day and place him under his light / UV with a basking area of 30°C and a cool end of 20°C.
Let us know the species and if you need the hibernation and wind down sheets passed along.
