Having a pooping problem

Post by Jesscar6 » 03 Dec 2017, 16:14

So Bernard hasn't been pooping properly for the past week and a bit I think. I've only really noticed it this week.
He's only done some small harder bits. It's not like his normal poo anyway.
I get the feeling he might be abit constipated?
I've been bathing him everyday this week and he has done some urates.

He's only really eaten some different lettuces, hibiscus and a few Christmas cactus flowers the past few weeks. Maybe the odd something else, I can't really remember, he's a proper fussy eater

Is there anything I can do to get him to poop properly?

Hi Jessica
Bernard is such a little rotter to you -

You could try offering him a thin slice of cucumber to see if that does anything but to be honest a tortoise poop should be nice and firm and not in the least soft.
If he is only eating small amounts then it will only be small in size so try not to worry and as long as you are bathing and he is eating he will be fine.

Thanks for the reassurance.
I'll try some, he normally doesn't like it though.
Like what Tortoise doesn't like cucumber! Apparently mine!
Been a while since I've tried it though

How about some succulent types like hens and chicks, opuntia, aloe vera. Maybe one or two of those he will like. Have a look through out Cacti and Succulent category of the database and see if you have any.
