Hi, just wanted to share a few photos of tort's outdoor enclosure and him enjoying a bit of real sunshine. Shame the weather has turned so he s not able to spend long outdoors but at least he can go out when the sunshine allows.
I 've yet to get him a little hut to go in and am going to look at the Lumisol sheeting (cost allowing) for possible canopy . Would have gone for larger size enclosure but space is limited plus it's a temporary enclosure.
We used 40mm limestone chippings for drainage as its standing on patio slabs, covered chippings with weed control fabric allowing drainage but keeping top soil/play sand in place. Rosemary bush for cover; patch of Timothy grass to nibble; and slate chippings in water bowl/bath area. Sedum and saxifrage planted. Bell cloche kind of hot house for him and terracotta pot for shade.
The close ups of tort munching (please ignore his poor little shell, that's how he was when he came into my care a few months ago) , this is a tray of home grown seeds I bought from Shelled Warriors, it's the Med Mix and he loves the leaves which have the little tendrils. I think I 've identified these as Vetch and these are included in the description of this particular seed mix but when I checked on TT database they are a 'red category' so now i'm a bit concerned and would welcome any advice. Can re post this query on plant ID section if that would be more appropriate. Hope you like the pics, he s a happy little chap
