Re: Please can you help with identifying the plant/weed that will not go
Hi Robert I'm afraid I have to agree with Nina in saying we need a better photo. Is this leaf laying flat? Can to take another photo of it with the grass flattened around the leaf. Is this just a single leaf or are there more coming from the ground? So sorry for all the questions but I think this co...

Re: Enchanters Nightshade /Circeae
Hiya. Thanks for contacting us about the Enchanter's Nightshade. It is not one of the nightshades as we know them it is in fact from the same family as Willowherbs and Evening Primrose. I does not appear to have any toxic principles but has a rather strong peppery taste so tortoises might not like i...

Re: Boy or girl?
Hmm. At 1 no vet would be able to even guess what sex a tortoise was, it would have to have been hatched at specific temps for male or female hatchlings and even that is not guaranteed. Best to wait and make sure, as I said even mine is a guess and there is still time for change -

Tortoises are not easy to sex unless they flash or are in the older category where we can be 100%. But this one does look like a young male to me right now, but there is room to change -

He will probably love it Devon. Most do but we do prefer the more natural here and have never found it to be a problem. See how the coir goes and because its lighter you may decide to stick with it.

Hi Dc92. Nina is entertaining family today so isnt around but I am sure she will pop in given the chance. Regarding other substrates. Re: Drinking on his own
Hiya. Bathing the youngsters daily is a good thing and there is also nothing wrong in upping it to twice a day until you can see that he is hydrated (indicated by the urates being a toothpasty consistency) and leaving him for up to 20 mins each time. As the saying goes...you can take a horse to wate...

Thats a great snippet of info Joe. So many of us forget we need to wash our roofs to allow the natural light through even if it is lumisol.
The extended time out is unspeakable for our English weather really, so its well worth the investment.
Hope you and yours are well.

Hi Chaz.
I dont know if its possible for you to keep the tortoise in a seperate area from the rabbit but I would try and deter it if you can. Also I would have your tortoise tested for parasites at the very least once a year to be sure everything is under controll.

Butting in here - lol. Yes, poop can go into the general waste for collection the same as cats and dogs. All they usually ask is that uts double wrapped (in a bag in a bag) to avoid spillage.
