Re: Help with identification
Hi Lucre.
Just wanting to say that the head is looking very Ibera to me but I cant be 100% sure. Ibera tortoises (TGI) do get slightly bigger than the hermanns and TGG.
Nina, can I just say...Ner ner ner ner ner...I told you - Just off to find my big hat now.

Re: Help with identification
Hiya Lucre.
Having spent a while looking at number 1, I am leaning towards a spur thigh tortoise. I cant say the sub species but looking at the head shape it could be Ibera. Could you send a photo of the head straight down.

Re: Help with identification
Hi Lucre. Can you send in some more photos showing the plastron, the tail area so we can see the skin between the top of the leg and tail. The head and a shot from the side. It would be good if you could number each tortoise with the same number as the tortoises you have already sent ie: tort 1 and ...

Oh poor you, and with such a huge area to cover. Its even more difficult because of this lockdown because I would havs suggested to go grab a load of kids and get them to help in a search.... Re: Help!
I would still put notices around the outskirts of the area just incase someone is passing. I dont suppose there has been any luck yet :( Maybe he has hunkeres doen to keep warm and will wake with the heat and on those bright sunny days perhaps some rings of cucumber left within sniffing distence. Oh poor you. Going along with what Nina has said I would put rather large laminated if possible, notes on the gates and around the allotments and both on the fences to the fields and also on the front of the fields (maybe offer a reward for his safe return as the kiddies are off school and will do a...

Re: tortoise's tail
Owch, and yes I can see it. On zooming in it does look like that part of the scales might have died and will eventually fall off and I also notice the shell is chipped on the under curve. You could cover that part of the shell with a small plaster and pop along to a reptile vet to get the curve smoo...

Ah, its Thale Cress (Arabidopsis thaliana) and as a brassica it would be ok in moderation and added to a varied diet.

Hi JonM
Rather than pull up something that could be a good feed why dont you wait for it to grow a bit and post another photo. The photos are quite blurry and I cant see the individual leaf clearly so wonder if you could post a photo in a week or so.

Hi Marco.
Just a thought to go along with what Nina has said. I wonder if you could forward these photos to the vet your aunt has asking if they could guide you as to what it could be.
They do seem to be very accommodating while this lockdown is going on.
