Re: Heat/Light set-up
Oh no, no no :o . So sorry Bex. I hadnt realised it was just for days and to heat up on chilly times. I thought you wanted to use it 24/7 and thats why I was going into detail about night time heat  . What you are proposing and if it is just for daytimes, then it will be fine. I can see if the...

Re: Heat/Light set-up
Hi Bex. Have you already brought the shed and the dimentions you gave (1x1mtr x 1.5 high) is correct? Regarding sulcatas and the hight of the shed it really does need to be somewhere large anough to obtain an nice ambient temp, all over and a heat spot reaching 30°C (as you already know) sorry but I...

Hi Bex.
Would you mind if I get back to you tomorrow on this as I have some questions I need clarifying before offering answers, and also would you be able to take a photo of the shed you are going to use or show one that is similar if you havnt already got it.

I am sure you have already seen this Bex, but incase you havn't have a look and see what you can find that may help. https://www.thetortoisetable.org.uk/tortoise-care/enclosures/outdoors/ I personally have always prefered the full spectrum fluorescent UVB tube plus a separate bulb for additional hea...

I know I am coming in late on this Kimberley, but your enclosure is brilliant, so spacious, bright and interesting. Well done for making one very happy tortoise.

Re: Loving family home available - Cheshire
Hi Selinabobs, and welcome. Have you had a scroll through the tortoises that are available for rehoming in this part of the forum. There are three young tortoises looking for a home, only one will be available because they are all males and there is Percy or Pandora. We still dont know if this is tw...

Re: Pandora the Horsefield from Derbyshire requires rehoming
Hi AntW. This is a very generous offer for you to rehome Pandora but I have to ask is there anything we could do in helping you rethink your decision. You are doing so well with her it would be a shame for you to part with her until you are 100% sure. Of course we will do all we can to help and list...

No worries.
Have you tried the search by flower colours. I often use that and find it easier.

Hi starsks
Tortoises bite the hands that feed them because they associate food with the hand. In future I suggest that you have food only on a slate and allow the tortoises to find it themselves. They will do once they get hungry.

I agree with Nina in saying the purple flower is one of the anemone species and a no feed. If you zoom in you can see it is a different leaf.

Re: Design for new indoor emclosure
I personally would go with a Perspex front and if it’s not suitable and causes any stress then you could always a paper or sticker transfer to the front...like those used to back reptile vivs or fish tanks . One think I would double check though, is the depth of the sides to make sure the ramp does ...

First of all can I say thanks for contacting us and welcome. Lol. Love it, Starsky and Hutch. Those are real 70’s names and they’re great. It must be starsky who wants the hutch, they can’t be alone. Hi Maria. It’s odd how we spend most of our life keeping a garden free of weeds and then all,of a sudden take umbrage when they won’t grow - Anyway, my idea - Yes, I have an idea....something is eating them...maybe rabbits, hares, mice, squirrels, snails, slugs or even the odd Sulcata. If it’s...

Re: New owner - confused about UVB light
Hi flora. You will get there in the end. Here is our article on indoor tables and a very good photo on how to hang lights and uvb. The strip (if that what you have) is best going across the table as it covers a better range where a tortoise might spend more time than if it were located to the side. ...
