He will probably love it Devon. Most do but we do prefer the more natural here and have never found it to be a problem. See how the coir goes and because its lighter you may decide to stick with it.

Hi Dc92. Nina is entertaining family today so isnt around but I am sure she will pop in given the chance. Regarding other substrates. I doubt the substrate is doing any harm providing the sand is the childrend playsand but if you do feel you would like to change then a lot of people are now using th...

Re: Drinking on his own

Hiya. Bathing the youngsters daily is a good thing and there is also nothing wrong in upping it to twice a day until you can see that he is hydrated (indicated by the urates being a toothpasty consistency) and leaving him for up to 20 mins each time. As the saying goes...you can take a horse to wate...

Re: Outdoor enclosure free -- collect from Rickmansworth

Thats a great snippet of info Joe. So many of us forget we need to wash our roofs to allow the natural light through even if it is lumisol.
The extended time out is unspeakable for our English weather really, so its well worth the investment.
Hope you and yours are well.

Re: Rabbit Poo!

Hi Chaz.

I dont know if its possible for you to keep the tortoise in a seperate area from the rabbit but I would try and deter it if you can. Also I would have your tortoise tested for parasites at the very least once a year to be sure everything is under controll.

Butting in here - lol. Yes, poop can go into the general waste for collection the same as cats and dogs. All they usually ask is that uts double wrapped (in a bag in a bag) to avoid spillage.

Re: My little Nova

Just an add on - the sand should be the kind you get for using in childrens playpits as if other sand, say from bags of builders or anything that stains orange it should not be used because if eaten it could cause impaction but the childrens sand is fine.

Hi Julie. Sadly because of the abundance you can guess that this is not going to be a good feed and the reason we say that is because it has an 'umbel' flower, meaning it is shaped like an umbrella. There are so many of these plants that are toxic so we have decided to play safe and advise against f...

Re: Couple of quick questions

Hi Pete.
I wonder if you think your grass could be Tall Fescue. I do believe it is a grass and be fine to feed but we must be sure before we can say 100% what it is. Have you got a photo of it growing in situ and is there something you could use as a market for size.

Hi Jo. Sorry I have taken so long to get back to you. This looks like it is one of the Lamiaceae family of plants but the trouble is there are so many its hard to tell which one until there are some flower buds to go by. Can you have a try of brushing a leaf between your thumb and finger to see what...

Some say its ok and some say not. I am afraid I am of the mind of 100% no dont do it. I had a huge sulcata walk over a large leopard and stood on its neck. It was lucky I was there on my way to removing the sulcata from the leopard enclosure and see what happened. If it wasnt there it could have bee...
