Re: Calor gas heater (unflued) safe in room?
Hi Hannah, Lin and I have just been talking, and we think that basically it is probably fine to have a calor gas heater in the room with Ball Toto, as long as the room is reasonably ventilated. But if you are actually getting headaches from the heater then that doesn't sound good and I wonder if the...

Yes it was found the same day I think. And not the first time as the owners have been warned.

Aww, thank you Misty, that’s so nice of you and it’s also good for us to have you here caring so much for your tortoises. It makes our job much easier - lol.
Let us know about the cucumber of folded leaf, if it works or not and I am sure your babies health checks will pass with flying colours.

Re: Calcium
Hiya. Fussy, aren’t they  Have you tried leaving the cuttlefish bone you get for birds, in the garden to go wet and manky looking. Most tortoises like it when it’s wet and lost it’s smell. Also A tiny pinch is all you need, per kilo of tortoise weight with the supplements so if you offer a teen...

Re: horsfield behaviour
Hi Steven I am hoping Nina will come in and post some links to tables (vivs, in my opinion are not good for tortoises). However regarding the behaviour you are seeing with her I would say she Might need a little tweak in her enclosure. Can I ask if you know the temps where she is, in both the hot an...

Re: Eating newspaper
Hi Sarah. To add to what Nina has said I would rather lean towards the glass t towels, the thin cotton ones the use for drying glass. Its small enough to have 4 hemmed edges and the toweling ones have a pile on whick if the tortoise is inclined to have a bite the threads could be pulled and swallowd...

Hiya. Before we take Theresa on for rehoming we need a few things from you. We can offer to rehome for you as long as you do not want any money for Theresa. Neither Facebook or The Tortoise Table can allow any monies to change hands because we are not a selling site and the selling of animals is not...

Ah, thats why I asked where you got her. As she was gifted to you it would have been good if you had got a note to say she was gifting you the felame hermans tortoise and a signature. It really just coveres you. Your vet should know that rehomed tortoises, providing they are not wild caught is ok to...

Ok Silverwings. This is a bit of a long one, sorry for that. Yes, I am afraid they do need an Article 10 and its best to have one just incase and its quite easy to obtain one. Re: Shell flaking :o
I would defo get him to the vet asap because looking closely at that part of the shell on the left of the scute it does seem to be coming away from the next scute. This could be because of the missing scuute and the growth making up for what is not there but it could potentially be the start of shel...

Re: Hibernating
You are right Dot, it is a little early for hibernation so I would do exactly what you are thinking. Get them up, bathe them, make sure the room and area of the tortoises are very bright to imitate mid summer and double check the basking area is around 30*C and a cooler area of 18*C. This is to imit...

Re: Looking to rehome
Hi Gemma and nice to hear from you and being a vet nurse is a bonus when looking to rehome. I think we do have a couple of here if you go through the rehoming meny you may drop Stitch and his owner a line. She is a two year old spur thigh. See what you think and give her a call to see if she is she ...
