Re: Hibernating
Hi Lin,thank you for your advice. We have had them 6 years and I believe they are 9 years old. One male and one female. I will do as you have suggested and see how it goes.

Hibernating
Hello there. I am after some advice re hibernating. If I do it,this will be the first year and it seems a bit early to be doing it. The reason I am asking now is my two tortoises have not eaten all week and are just staying in their hide. I don't know whether to disturb them with bathing and would b...

Re: New outdoor enclosure
Hi Nina, thanks for your quick reply. We live in Wales and as you say it is rather warm at the moment!! We have had them 5 years so they are not babies. There are plenty of hideaways for them but the favourite is digging to go under a rock. I have been tempting them with a variety of food including d...

As soon as they go in it they bury themselves without even eating anything!! They haven't eaten now for a week even with bringing them indoors.Help adv...

Re: New outdoor enclosure
Thank you Lin and Nina for your suggestions. I think I will put some meshing over the top for now and ask hubby to make a walk in frame for me. He's not much of a diy enthusiast so I won't hold my breath! I will post a picture when the weather is nice, needless to say it is much cooler this mor...

New outdoor enclosure
Hello, I am looking for a bit of advice. I have had a new enclosure built for my two horsefields. It is 5ftx15ft built with a brick wall of 2ft. I am wondering whether I need to put a net? fencing over the top and if so recommendations of what sort. I shall be bringing them in each evening as we occ...

Re: Biting tortoise
Thank you for your advice Nina. I actually have separate outdoor enclosures for them in the summer and last winter they were in together without too much of a problem. I had wondered about trying a divider so will give that a go. We used to have a bearded dragon in a vivarium which sadly died a few ...

Not eating
I am getting a bit concerned about my two tortoises as they are not eating and only want to sleep in this hot weather.Should I still put them outside even though they will just bury themselves?
