Hi again, I last wrote in the autumn/late summer I think when Sheldon our tortoise was trying to go off and hibernate and you gave me advice about keeping him going. We managed to get him going again and he had a very busy winter marching about our house and going too and from his lights, waking up ...

Re: lethargic tortoise.

Nina thank you so much for all that advice. In the end I didn't get to the vet in Ross because lockdown happened and he had perked up so much and seemed back to normal. But I think I will take him there now to get him checked out and try and get a poo sample to see if he needs worming. I will have a...

Re: tortoise's tail

Hi Nina and Lin, That is great I have now ticked the "notify me" button thank you! here is a pic of Sheldon's tail and shell. I hope you can zoom in. The tail has healed but still has an indent - but you can see how the shell is curving slightly toward it I hope. If that photo isn't good e...

tortoise's tail

Hi, After your invaluable advice after we found our tortoise Sheldon he is now completely up and running and back to normal - very active, peeing and pooing etc.. We have one slight concern which is that his tail has been slightly damaged by his shell - the shell seems to curve around quite sharply ...

Re: tortoise not eating, closed eyes

Hi Nina and Lin, I'm afraid Sheldon has not got going yet - He still hasn't taken any food but is having frequent baths and I'm dissolving the reptoboost in the water to help him. I have the tear drops and I hope to hear back about his blood test today or in the next day or so. I have also discovere...

Re: tortoise not eating, closed eyes

Thank you so much for advice - I did question the x-ray myself but vet was adamant! I am not convinced that the vet I saw really knew what she was talking about but I was desperate for something to be done! So far we've never really taken the temperature under Sheldon's light but I will now get a th...

tortoise not eating, closed eyes

Hi, our tortoise "Sheldon"managed to escape in mid October 2019 out of the house (long story) and we searched and searched for weeks for him. After the wet winter we've had here in the UK we gave up hope that he would have survived as he was not prepared for hibernation. He's a horsefield ...
