He went out out!
I took Wilbur outside today. I had an old indoor rabbit cage so took the wire top off and tent pegged it down securely. Gave some shade and water and popped him in. He loved it!! Although I think he could see the big clump of cranesbill geranium I left when cutting the grass and decided that the gra...

Re: Foraging walk id please
Lovely, thank you Lin. I did wonder if A was some kind of geranium as it reminded me of the cranesbill geranium in the garden

Re: Wilbur says thank you
We totally got a few stares!! The neighbours have already started offering us dandelions from their gardens although I think one gave me a funny look when I was out photographing a plant from several angles yesterday afternoon

Re: Foraging walk id please
Just 2 more.
Many thanks for your help.
Wilbur didn’t eat his lovely dead nettles so maybe not a fan (shame as we have a box full in the fridge ). We'll try again tomorrow.

Foraging walk id please
Hi, we went to collect some deadnettle and got some photos of some other plants. I hope they are clear enough. I think B and C are the same except one is flowering and one was not?

Wilbur says thank you
Wilbur says thank you for his new and improved mealtimes (although we’ve only had him 5 days so there were only 3 less exciting mealtimes of salad leaves and dandelions). Hoping he will enjoy his dead nettle selection today as much as his cranesbill geranium yesterday. There’s also small amounts of ...

Re: Are these the same plant and is it....
Thank you. Herb Robert hadn’t come up on the list, I must have filtered it wrong (wild flowers/pink) although I have seen it somewhere in the database and I see how obviously the same it is now! My daughter was convinced it was the same....me not so much . We'll see what Wilbur thinks x

Are these the same plant and is it....
I have these two flowers in separate places the flowers are identical but the leaves are different! I can’t decide if it’s storks bill or corncockle or neither!?

Re: New owner help
Thanks Lin, having looked back it’s all very muddled and confused (mornings are not my best times for making sense) 😂. I’ll have a look at those you’ve suggested. I went for a lovely walk in the southbdowns today and id’d something all by myself after looking through your database - dead nettle. So ...

Re: Feeding?
Haha he’s very speedy and messy!! And good at climbing! He likes to sit on top of his tunnel to see over the edge of his enclosure!
He can’t go in the garden till I’ve done some serious taming (planned for Sunday) as I’d lose him in seconds!!

Re: New owner help
Haha I can’t take any credit for the cranesbill as Lin asked for a better pic last night suggesting it may be that. Sorry, I have now risked the wrath of stinging nettles and spiders and got what I hope are decent photos of the actual plant. My garden is terribly unkept (a tortoise paradise I’m sure...

Also can he eat normal grass from the garden?
The whole feeding him from the garden makes me so nervous but I do want to do the best for him

Re: New owner help
Morning. I’ve taken a better picture and found 2 weeds that I can’t seem to find. I’m sure having constant plant pictures posted is infuriating but I promise I did look first .

Re: Feeding?
Thank you Nina, I hope he will be very happy here. We’ve done lots of research but there’s always something you worry about once they’re here! He is the funniest little thing....I didn’t realise they were quite as bonkers! We also have some furry four leggers who are a bit nuts so I wonder if it’s s...

Thank you Lin, it does look like that although I’ve never noticed it before so not sure what the flowers are usually like. I’ll try to get a better picture tomorrow. Thank you for your help x

Re: Feeding?
Thank you so much for your replies. I’ve been id’ing the weeds in the garden today so I know what Wilbur can and can’t have. So tomorrow I’ll start collecting some for him. We also have an ocellated uromastyx and African land snails that eat the same as Wilbur so we always have a good selection of l...

Re: New owner help
Oh wow thank you for letting me know! I’ll get rid of it tomorrow. It’s growing out of what’s meant to be the path so won’t be too difficult. Could I ask for one more please? I’ve managed to I’d most of the weeds in my very over grown garden but there were two I couldn’t find. Here is the second....

Feeding?
Hello. We got our first tortoise on Sunday after many years (10+) of dreaming of owning one. He is called Wilbur, we are completely in love! One thing I’m unsure on though as there’s so much conflicting advice is how much/often does he need feeding. I’m currently giving him a pile the same size as h...

New owner help
Hello. We got our first tortoise (Wilbur) at the weekend. I’ve been out checking out the weeds in the garden and I can’t seem to identify one. Would anyone happen to know what it is please?
